I wanted something without standoff’s, self supporting, good looking and follows the lines of the boat. This is what I came up with. I had a pipe welder make the frame and powder coat it. After the frame was installed I called the best canvas guy I could find. The top is drum tight and easy to take off and put back on. It covers the entire cockpit seating area.

The total cost was $4,500. The frame with powder coat was $1,900+ and the Stamoid top was $2500+. If anyone wants a copy of my drawings, design let me know I’ll email them. It’s though bolted into the spoiler on all the flanges with 1/4” aluminum backing plates accessed through the spoiler light holes. After the frame was installed the installer hung on it, it didn’t move! But, he only weighs 170lbs.

Very well done! Reminds me of the aft tops on the new Riviera yachts. Screen Shot 2018-02-21 at 10.39.57 AM.png

Love it. Similar to mine but I used stand offs as the installer was concerned the overhead tension rod setup would crack the hardtop at the mounting points. I also ditched the slant back covers to gain more usable space by using drop down covers around the perimeter of the Bimini. I also used Stamoid top and Sunbrella sides. Bimini uses the same track system to attach the Stamoid as used on the Riv's here in Oz.

No, we don’t need a camper, all the cockpit windows and screens I had made so we can sit in the cockpit, lots of room and ventilation. We had a drop down curtain(in white) made that snaps to the shade in any position, depending on where the sun is and what direction the boat is. That way we can unsnap and reposition it all the way around the shade. Snaps are 13” apart.

I also used a track to attach the shade to the spoiler. The flanges(4) installed and through bolted with backing plates is really strong, doesn’t move at all. We used 1.250” aluminum tube. The cross tubes are 1” and the crown is 1” giving it plenty of pitch for water runoff.
