Summer trip

We went to Charlevoix last week, and then Mackinaw Island. 1st trip for both. We loved Charlevoix. It turns out the dockhand (pick with wife, him and I) is the nephew of my neighbor. Small world. The boat ran great. Mackinaw wasn't the favorite, but we had bad weather and left a day earlier then planned. Then saw the waterspout. Wow that was wild. Made back to Door County in Sister Bay for a night, then headed back to Sturgeon Bay. All in all a good trip. Headed back across Thursday to see family in Leland, Mi. (and the Wilterinks)

I'm spending July 11th to the 17th in Charlevoix. Truly one of the great towns in Michigan. And I agree with the ferry wash, Mackinaw Island marina is a lumpy place so we are stopping at the Mackinaw City marina or Straights Marina.

Yes it was. A local said usually 20-30% of the boats would be Canadian...

Very nice. Loading up our new boat for the first trip next week - heading east on Lake Ontario and staying in a small marina in Sackets Harbor. Looking forward to it, boat trips are the best. Also looking forward to travelling with significantly more space than last season (and a shower on the boat that doesn't get the toilet wet )

Wonder what ever happened to that big rock that was in the middle of the marina? They found it a couple years ago after the winter ice moved it into there. Anyone know what happened with it?

I can't say I've ever noticed a Canadian registered boat at Mackinac Island...not that I've really looked for them. Being seasonal in Mackinaw City for a few years, it was rare for a Canadian registered boat there from my recollection.
