Summer 07 Fuel Prices

Our marina (on base) has been holding steady at $2.95/gal for 89 gas. Not sure what diesel is, I'll try to remember to look next time I fill up.

Ok, when cruising in a new place, do most of you just pull into a fuel dock and hope the price is good. Or do you call or radio places to find out what the price is first?

I call ahead and ask every time. Even if I'm going to buy it, they don't know what I'm thinking. I believe that every human is influenced to some degree by the actions of other humans in their life. I try to influence them to my advantage, just like I'm trying to influence you right now to call and ask the price.

$1.50 a gallon at our Marina. :wow: :wow:

What's that.................. you don't believe me?

on land, gas at the wah wah just dropped to $2.69 (87 octane). havent filled up on the water since early may, when i paid $2.89 for 87 (took on about 145 gallons). sometimes, driving an extra 30 minutes to and fro to save a few pennies winds up negating the savings, esp at 20-30GPH. if i'm going that way anyway, i'll drive to save. if not, i bend over and take it up the :smt018

And the really big guys win again... from a couple captains on large yachts 130 feet and above, they call ahead and get a bidding war going to see who will offer cheapest. Us small guys don't have the purchasing power that they do to get folks to reduce prices.

What's wrong with that?

At the begining of the season I got bent over at BaySide Marina when prices maxed out at 4.40 a gallon. since them prices have fallen back to about $3.70 a gallon.

thats when I went to northen tool and bought my a 25 gallon gas caddy.

Since then i'm filling up on the street at about $2.89 a gallon saving about a $25 on each trip.

I paid 3.42 a gallon in Wilson NY on Lake Ontario yesterday. It was my first fill up of the year. I had about 3/4 tank left from last year that was fine with the stabilizer added last fall. :smt001

my marina charges 4.19/gal for gas and 3.29/gal for diesel. gas is 1.07 more than the street pump. It makes you think when you get shafted on the price and the marina owned has a 55 sunseeker 2 rivas and a nautica rib and drives an aston martin vanquish! :smt013 :smt089

but I must say the mid 70s restored riva he drives around is pretty darn sweet.

Yeah we just saw $2.99 at the pump for the first time in a long time.
Glad to be a trailerable right now

$2.67 on land now here in NJ. didnt realize that maine was that merciless! :smt013

I have been paying between $2.35-2.68 per gallon for diesel. Add to that a couple cents per gallon for Power Service Diesel Kleen at the 3 cetane boost level and it is still tolerable. Averaging 20.5 GPH at cruise, with the exception of a 4 hour run down the Bay against 3-4 footers and some wind on the bow--burn went up a bit to 24 GPH.
Thank you, Rudolf Diesel, wherever you are.
