Stress Cracks Around Exhaust Ports on 1980's 340

I've been looking at 1986 and 1987 340 Dancers and Express Cruisers lately and have noticed that a lot of them have stress cracking around the fiberglass exhaust ports at the waterline. I think that I know what causes it but would like confirmation, and if it is a serious problem.

Most boats have fairing compound around exhaust ports, with engine vibration or slight impacts with a dock this very brittle fairing compound can crack. It is very easy to repair if it bothers you and has no impact on structural integrity.
