Hi All

First year with this boat and while scrapping the bottom this weekend and discovered Strake damage that has been repaired (Could not see the damage with Painted bottom)

picture.php

The damage (I can't imagine how it happened) as mentioned, was repaired but I think it could be better (I will try to get pictures up tonight)

It looks like it was repaired with some sort of epoxy. My question, I would like to add epoxy to the damaged area in an attempt to smooth it out just a little better now that all of the paint is off the bottom.

What type of epoxy (Or filler) do I need to repair a strake on a fiberglass hull?

The Damage, BTW, is located on the port side lowest strake as the strake ends toward the stern just about under the front of the port engine. About a quarter sized hole and a half inch wide crack that runs for about 4 inches.

it seems water tight, surveyor did not find it but still sucks that it is there.

Grind it out down to clear glass and fill with West System thickened with Cabosil, or even Marine-Tex.

You need to grind deep enough to get rid of any "whitish" glass. If it's more than 1/4" or so, you might want to cut up some cloth and lay up a few layers to build it up before fairing.
