Early last week we had some severe weather. In one area 8-10 inches of rain fell in a few hours. That water started boiling down the ravines and we had flood damage. The small Saxon Harbor Marina and Campground was wiped out….1 death. About 85 boats wrecked, some sunk, some missing. Boats and docks along with some camping trailers were washed out onto the lake. Heading east from the marina there is storm debris strung along about 50 miles of shoreline.

To rebuild will be starting from scratch. It was a nice little harbor, very popular with the fisherman and other activities too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M31GZPCXG1c

Was the damage from the rain water coming from the land or were the protective breakwaters destroyed allowing the waves from lake to wipe out the marina. Appears to Mother Nature at it's worst.

Holy smokes!!!

Sorry to hear/see this... Bummer.

Good luck to all.

I feel so very sorry for the boaters and the marina owners.

Damn.

There were high winds near 100mph near by and possibly a short lived tornado but the damage to the marina was all due to flash flood.

Dang, that is a lot of rain to get in such a short time. It just sickens me to see all those boats damaged. I can only imagine how the boat owners and marina owners much feel.

There was a fella came through our marina. He brought his boat up from lower MI and was going to slip it at Saxon Harbor. He was making some phone calls looking for a new place.
