StillwAter, MN to Lake City, MN

First cruise with the little man. He had never experienced river traffic or locks. Some pics of the 57.7nm trip.

1045 depart Stillwater city dock. No wake zone for a significant part of the Stillwater area due to new bridge construction.

1200 arrive Kinny sandbar

1400 Lock 3

1430 HarborBar/Redwing-Queen of Mississippi in the background

1600 arrive Lake City Marina

Back in Lake City after a run down to Winona. Locked through lock 4, 5 and 5a. Only had 1 tow to wait on thanks to AIS and planning. Dig this part of the Upper Miss.

To stay on topic...our transient dock has a 260,280, 290, 300, 310 and us in our little 240. Sea Ray very popular here.

we had LAX on the itinerary originally but ended up staying too long in Winona(my birthplace) so we had to turn there. Next time for sure!

Nice pics and it sounds like a great trip. What did your little guy think of the trip and the river traffic? Did he do any of the driving?

At Lock 3

He loved it and I think he learned a lot as well. He was able to communicate with tows and the lock masters via vhf as well and he enjoyed that.

Spent most of my childhood on that part of the mighty Mississippi as my grandparents lived in Red Wing. Some wonderful river boating. Thanks for bringing back the fond memories. Looks like you had a wonderful trip!
