Any of you Chesapeake Bay guys know if Still Pond (other than the entrance) is a no wake zone? We were their for the first time last week and it is really beautiful. Seems like it should be a no wake area but I saw no signs to indicate that it was.

Also, I noticed that the no wake barrels on the Sassafras (at the eastern end of the river ) have no wake Saturday, Sunday and Holidays....whats up with that....Are they saying you can blow by Skip Jack, and Duffy's, and Georgetown Yacht Basin at full throttle during the week..!!.. :smt017. We were told that the no wake zone begins just west of Skipjack but nothing about the weekend/weekday difference. Anyone have any first hand knowledge? We come off plane well before the first no wake barrel and will continue to do so as I don't want to be responsible for damaging any of the hundreds of boats in the various marinas but...whats the deal???? :smt101 Thanks in advance.

Frank,

Not sure about Still Pond but there are a few areas around here where the 6-kt only applies on weekends. The mouth of the Magothy is another, I believe. Is that uncommon? Our experience is limited to the Chesapeake and the Hudson River.

Hey Frank....If you still have a NJ port-a-call on the transom you are allowed to do what ever you want...kind of like having out of state licesne plates...

I have personally never seen no wake or speed restriction barrels that are weekend only. From my experience its either a yes or no situation.....Guess this is different. I think I will tend to err on the no wake side all the time.....Thanks

Thanks Dom, I'll explain that and use your name when I am stopped by the MD water police!! I am glad that you reminded me to get off my duff and get the Port of Call changed...another winter project. Have a great weekend in A/C....Tell "The Donald" that Karen H. said Hi.

You may not want to use my name.....they might double the fine.....

Hope to come down your way next year...in a 410DA.....right now....I just finished packing my wifes clothes on the 380DA for a weekend trip to Atlantic City..she has enough for two weeks.... :smt119 ...I'm shoving off at 10am.....

Hi Dominic! Hope your run was a nice one - we "scooted" out yesterday on our 340 in the Manahawkin Bay area and headed south - very windy when we were out there! I will say that the skies were as blue as blue gets, so visually it must have been heaven!

My hubby is hoping to get to AC on the boat in 2 weeks - Rolling Stones are in AC and that's a pretty good combo in my book - a little Stones and boating in the same weekend!

The Trip to AC was B-Ute-E-full.....Got back to the home dock around noon.....we went down via the ICW,as the wind was kicking up a little.....spent two days at Farley State Marina by Trump....ate diner at Carmine's in the Tropicana Saturday night and the Borgota Buffet on Sunday.....I even managed to make a small withdrawl from the Trump Casino... ....the ride home we went outside and the The Great Atlantic Lake was like jello.....I set the Auto pilot to follow a two waypoint route from AC inlet to the Barnegat inlet and then made my way north to home dock from there.....the day was so nice....after I washed down the boat, I got my scuba gear together and dove the Shark River inlet with two other buddies.......Now....I am laying in bed half Dead as my 50yearl old bones are starting to talk to me....

Frank, You may want to look at the following info: http://www.dnr.state.md.us/boating/regs.html

While these areas don't affect you, I have been advised that it may create somewhat of a slippery slope situation where other areas may soon follow suit and have the same type of "all the time" regulations.
