Still Pond Raft Up

Will the raft still be together on Sunday?

Unfortunately, we need to attend a graduation party this Saturday. Can you believe the nerve of some people to schedule social stuff during boating season!!! :smt017 If the weather is ok, we may come up on Sunday.

Jim, Nancy and Lucy the golden retriever.

I just found out that we may not make it due to a "scheduling conflict" with our cruising companions... but if we do...

We're Tim, Donna, Jack and Julia on Festivus, and Ken, Michele, Andrew, Sarah and Matthew on Y-Knot.

Looks like we'll be headed out early Saturday morning rather than Friday night. We expect to reach Still Pond Creek around 9:30 / 10:00 AM.

We'll be monitoring channel 68 for those who will be coming into the Creek.

Stan & Donna

Stan, we expect to get there sometime around noon (earlier if possible). Will give you a call on 68 as we approach the entrance to Still Pond Creek. We're looking forward to meeting many of you CSR'ers this weekend!

We hope to arrive about noon, too. Assuming we can get our act together and leave by 10...which may be a stretch considering the sleep habits of a 16-year-old... :smt021

We'll keep our fingers crossed that the 30% thunderstorms are somewhere else this weekend!

I'm going to try to make it up there too. I'll be coming on one of my non-Sea Ray center consoles. So if you guys see a random 23' Seacraft or a 23' Black Lab boat pulling up please don't shoot water balloons at me in defense

What a GREAT Raft up. 7 boats ...ImpulseIII, Glory Daze, Deb Find 'er, Phli Lani, Chessie, Michele Ann, and of course the token Bayliner (hi Jim). Also a "Visit" from Tim of Festivus via Dink! Weather could not have been better and it was great to put faces to the names we have all been talking to over the past year. Good food, drink and conversation....topped off with an evening of cigars and exceptional single malt scotch (for some), and a beautiful sunset. You couldn't have asked for anything better.

Still Pond is absolutely beautiful. Quiet, calm, protected, not overly crowded and fairly close for all those who came. For this ex-Barnegat Bay boater the sight of a bald eagle soaring past the boats and watching a family of Ospreys fight off a flock of buzzards to protect their young and then watch the Ospreys snatch fish from the water with their talons to feed their young was absolutely incredible. It's watching a nature show in "real time". Never saw this 'stuff" on the Joisey Shore!!!!(sorry Dominic).

Anyway, several of the raft participants are also planing to be at our soire at BIH and others are trying to "fit it in" so we'll see what happens.

Whose up for another CSR Raft up in 3 or 4 weeks in the Northern Chesapeake? Maybe somewhere different but in the same general (northern) area? Suggestions???open dates??? How's July 23 for a starting point?

Again, a great weekend and a pleasure to meet all you nice people..Karen and I feel like we just gained a dozen or so new friends!

It was great to meet everyone, I hope you all made it home safe and dry... me and the gaggle-o-kids had the usual ton of fun on the "outside". Frank, I'm glad you enjoyed Still Pond and sorry again about trying to steal your Sea Ray coozie!

Ditto to all! Don and I had a great time as well; Frank said it all! Thanks to Stan (Glory Daze) and John (Michele Ann) for getting us first timers in the right Creek ..... finally. I can't wait to get together with everyone again. What a great group! The margaritas were awesome, too! Next time we'll spend the night for sure (the teeanagers were tame...we could have stayed :smt021 )
Festivus, sorry we missed you! Next time hopefully.
Stan, please thank Donna for the fabulous strawberries...yummy!

Here's a quick photo of the fun (Sorry for the small size. Had to keep it under 50k)

Frank, I think July 23 is the BIH trip???

We had a great time, too! It was fun meeting everyone, putting faces to names and boats.

Like Don, I want to thank John and Stan for talking us into the Creek. I wouldn't have gone between that fallen tree and the marker if I'd been on my own! It sure is a nice spot...maybe the tricky entrance keeps the crowds away.....

We'd love to do it again. The calendar looks a little busy so we may have to be the ones leaving in the evening next time, but we're definitely up for it.

ALL,

What an awesome time. It was Kyle and My pleasure to have met you all. Hopefully next time the Admiiral will not have to work and she can be there. Of course, thanks Stan for leading the effort.

Jeff...Kyle says tell the girls Hi. He had a great time hangin with them.

We definitely have to get together again.

Deb, You're right, I should know that there are two months in the summer with 4 letters that start with "Ju" !! I was looking at a June calender but my fingers typed in the wrong last two letters....my bad!

So what does JUNE 23rd look like?????

Oh yeah.....glad the "boys" behaved!! You and Don should have hung out for the night!

I'm glad to hear that you guys had such a nice get together.....Great weather and great new friends.....

I love a good cigar at sunset.....I prefer a nice Ruby Port as a chaser..... .....I keep a humidor and a bottle of Port on board at all times.....I'm looking foward to meeting you guys in July.....

Nice meeting everyone Saturday, seeing that bald eagle was worth the trip. Looking forward to BIH trip and hanging with you guys again and meeting some more CSR people. Stan, your boat (Glory Daze) is almost as incredible as your blender  and that is pretty cool that you know Brian Billick as well as you do. If some of you guys want to do another raft off, may I suggest Fairlee Creek, for as peaceful and calm as Still Pond is, Fairlee is just the opposite but is a great spot to do a raft off.

I've got some pictures from Saturday, if anybody wants them email me john@jgmartin-hvac.com.

Once again, it was nice meeting everyone.

John

Thanks to all for a great weekend. Donna and I enjoyed meeting everyone and we certainly echo all the earlier remarks. It was fun despie being rain-shortened.

Glad to hear all was good on the homefront - guess John got word to the kids that Deb and Don were on the way!

John - thanks for the compliments - I should clarify your B. Billick commment - I would not say that I know him that well - we've chatted a couple of times at boating events and golf outings organized by Clarks Landing and I bug him every draft season about getting some Penn Staters. Aside from that, there's been no other communication. He's always been courteous and open to chat to all those who attend the events.

We're looking forward to another raft-up although Donna and I have to get our Solomon's Island and Herrington Harbor trips scheduled. See you all again soon.

They had a good time, too. It was great they had someone their own age they could relate to and hang out with!
