Still Pond Raft Up

Mark, we have no kids so we're no help in that department. However, our boat is usually one of the most quiet so if you can keep the kids entertained in the cabin, you are welcome to joinus for some piece and quiet.....the same goes for anyone else!!

By the way, Mark, where are you on the Sassafras? We are at Skipjack Cove. Any other "Skippies" out there?? :smt043

We're planning on it, too!

Mark, we have two kids -- 13 yo boy and 16 yo girl, and we get the same from them :smt009 They do play well together, although at times my daughter gets a little impatient with my son -- three years is a lot at that age. Gameboys help, though....

Jeff

No young ones anymore as we have become empty nesters. But we will have our 3 year old golden retriever along who loves children.

We have a 9 y.o. boy and a 7 y.o. girl. Plus, our trusty travelling companions with a 40DB (hopefully... long story) also have the same plus an additional 4 y.o. boy (oops).

And if our other buddy comes (he has a Meridian, but it's still sort of in the family), he's got three boys aged 7, 4 and 2. So, if you want to avoid us, I will not take it personally!

We'll try to make it as well.

Sounds like a great opportunity to meet some new folks and talk all things SeaRay!

First timers to Still Pond will love it!

We are in... with a 5 yo girl and two dogs. Really looking forward to it - never been to still pond and to finally put some faces with the names.

Still POnd

Hopefully we will be able to make this one. Will have to check with the admiral to see if she is off that weekend. If not maybe I will come with my 14 yo son

Stan....So glad we bought your boat. Having way too much fun

Craig

ImpulseIII plans on being there. Should arrive sometime mid afternoon. Who else is coming?? You'll know my boat....its dirty........... :smt013

Still Pond Still On

Glory Daze will be there. I know that Chief (Pila Lani) will be there as well as a friendly Bayliner joining us. (Hey - it's the Brunswick family and he's looking at a new 310 Dancer).

I wanted to clarify and recommend exactly where we are headed. there is Still Pond and Still Pond Creek. While many folks raft-up in Still Pond, it can and will get chop, especially with this weekend's forecast. If we're not thinking about Still Pond Creek, I recommend we do. It is a far greater place to raft-up.

For those that haven't been there, getting into Still Pond Creek is a little tricky, but if you follow the markers, you'll be fine. From Still Pond, follow the green and red markers to the entrance of Still Pond Creek. Once you get to the entrance, stay close to the bulkhead on the right. From that point there are only green markers which you must keep to the left (Green Left Returning). You will be close to the shore. You will see a Coast Guard station to the left with a couple of moorings. Don't go there as it is too shallow. Continue on, staying close to the right shoreline until you pass several more docks (I recall a large tree branch hanging directly in front of me last year!) Again you will see a few mooring floats to the left. It's all deep at this point and the best anchorage will be to the left.

There's a great sandbar in there where folks are typically wading. There's also some great clamming for those inclined to dig in the sand a little.

Thoughts??

Glory- Thanks for clarifying! We almost always go to Still Pond proper because of the beaches, the spit with the current, the sandbar and the access to Churn Creek for skiing off the back of my buddy's inflatable yacht that he carries on his swim platform (I have a boring old regular 10' RIB as well). It's going to be hard to tear my crew away from our usual spot.

You are absolutely correct, however, that if a T-storm kicks up and the winds shift to the NW then Still Pond creek is a much better spot. Sometimes we move, if necessary, to "the inside" (we have the raft break-up procedure down to a science).

Maybe we should establish two locales and use the dinghies to commute that way everyone can try either spot (or both as time allows). Just a thought...

We will come back around in "The Rest Of Us" (the dinghy) to see if we can find Glory Daze and Pila Lani et al.

Being the new guy to the area, inside sounds like the place to raft up. Guess it all depends on how many boats show up but I guess we'll see. How many are planning on spending the night? I think we are...

We're looking forward to it. Having never been there, we'll go with the majority decision on location.....

We are most likely spending the night -- depends on timing as I would want to get back to our dock before dark (we've just moved to an in-water slip in a difficult location and I don't want to dock after dark).

Jeff

If you're spending the night then inside is the obvious choice. We may or may not spend the night but if we do, we will move back inside...

During the day, we will swing inside with the dinghy and say hello!

"Michele Ann" will most likely be there and I think "Debfinder" as well...............Hey "Glory Daze", can you tell me how to get to the inside again

John

For those of us planning on going to Still Pond this Saturday , perhaps a "Boat Name --People Name" list would be helpful.
