power steering twin 350's 1997- was fine before winter- had to do a repair- emptied fluid from pump- is it possibly air bound

thank you Mr. Scoflaw- will it be repairable or is a new one the best route- thank you in advance- 19ed50

repair was the intake manifold- not related to the steering cable- it is a teleflex (seastar) rack and pinion- hard to get at in dual 350 set up- but appears to be the loosening of a nut at stern and 4 bolts at helm- I assume that the new one should be placed in with rack gear centered, outdrives centered and simply insert stern end in and tighten nut?- looked for an install manual but no luck on that- am I on right track- it seems too simple ( not boat related) -Ed
by the way I am in Falmouth

Start by just bleeding it like Scof mentioned. Start it up, turn the wheel back and forth a bunch a times just like a car.

Sir- thank you =that was my original inclination but Scof said it was self bleeding, so I will bleed it while moving it , worth a try before going new -thank you= Ed

FYI, he's right to call it "self bleeding". Turning the wheel back and forth is akin to self bleeding and we generally consider that self bleeding... as opposed to having to manually bleed something via bleed screws.

But... good luck - hopefully that's all it is! :)
