Stereo Upgrade for 480DB

Anyone done an upgrade for the Clarion stereo that is located inside the bridge dashboard?

I followed the recommendation from a previous thread and want to replace the 5471 with the 475. The install is easy once you get unit removed. How does one do that?

It should be out this week and would be available for someone who wants it. At 6'4" I cannot get under the dashboard and have to hire someone to get it out and the new one in. He has promised to get it done this week.

I had to go in through the compartment under the dash, remove the white starboard box (mine looked aftermarket) and get to the wire harness that way. Then, it was easy. I also found that there is easy access to the stereo bracket and wiring if you simply remove your chart plotter screen (just a few screws) if it's in the same place as mine (I have a '99 480 DB). I also put a Clarion remote on the dash along with the new stereo so I don't have to open the dash compartment. If want want to shoot a couple of pics and email to mike@hansen64.com or post here, I can let you know if your set-up is the same as mine. It was harder taking the old one out than putting the new one in. I then left the starboard box out for future access since it didn't seem to serve any real purpose. Again, I'm not sure if mine is like yours, but I'll help if I can.
