and a cutom jl m770 in my cockpit door so you can aim it at the swimming area
4 amps totalling 2800 watts custom mounted in the cabin cabinetry with fans and always being in the AC!!!
JL Audio all the way!!!!

Got any pics?

All this talk of improving stereos and Jim's sale at BOE has inspired me.

I just purchased a Wet Sounds 6 Channel Amp, and Subwoofer. Hopefully this week's warming trend will let me get some work done. I also decided that my Polk Db-651's were not up to the challenge of the new amp, so the cockpit speakers will be swapped out for Polk MM-651UM's.

Hopefully this project will go better than my inverter disaster.

Good choice on the UM....I absolutely love the sound!

Heres a few pics
the alpine 6x9s have been replaced with jl audio m880s
as have all the side panels and seats
every speaker has a red led ring behind it
bright and crystal clear loud!!

I wanted to share an album on Photobucket with you!

Scott...how many speakers are you hooking up to your amp?

Hopefully this may help and is my arrangement.
This photo is behind the cabin power panel. It's the only place except for the battery switches I could get a 100 Amp high current electrical source. The 00 gage wire and Streetwires fuse provides power to the amps only. The head unit and memory is from the original system wiring:

This photo is at the bulkhead to the V Berth and is behind the solon seating backrest. There is a 1000 watt 5 channel Rockford Fosgate for the cockpit and a 500 watt 4 channel Rockford Fosgate for the cabin. There are four speakers and one sub in the back with channel 5 feeding the sub and two speakers in the cabin with one sub with two channels bridged for the sub. The MS speakers are piped off the head unit:

As you can see in this picture I have completely rebuilt where the old head and disc player was and installed a new Clarion M303. The two switches are to switch on and off the two amps from the head amp switch wire. With this arrangement I can turn on or off the system in the back or the boat or the cabin or both and just have sound in the MS. It works very well.

My fosgate amp doesnt have an onboard fuse and when wired off a distribution block they require an additional inline fuse to be installed after the distribution block to protect the amp. From what I can see in your pic it looks like you are running just the main fuse on the 0-0 gauge wire?

Fusion Av700 Head Unit, 2 remotes, 8 JL 7.7" speakers and one JL sub in my system. Its an amazing upgrade from the stock Sea Ray Clarion system. There is no substitute for JL Amps and speakers, and you'll only buy them once.

Fusion MS700I head unit. 3 JL amps. JL MX650's cockpit, JL 10" sub ,cockpit. 2 remotes. stock Panasonic sub and 6" speakers ,on the bridge and it is soooo loud and clear. highly reccommend JL and Fusion so far!
