I am having a problem with my stereo, (it cuts out periodically) and my refrigerator (only runs on 12v DC, not on A/C).

I don't know if there is any connection between the problems. Just checking to see is anyone has had a similar problem.

:smt021 Hi, I am having the same problem with my radio. ( after 6 Months of use ) It started with when i moved Lower unit & when I moved my Trim tabs. Now it does it when any power item is used with Boat on or off.
I have re-wired everything but still cuts the power off. I was going to try a new Radio next. I have attached meters to the power line and there is very little movement on the volt meter less than 1/2 volt at any time.
What radio do you have? is it original?
Thanks.
I have copied the post from the past, maybe they can help you:huh:
Audio from Radio / CD Cuts out when move Trim
Hi, I loose the CD / Radio / Aux - Audio ( no Sound) when I move the Drive trim or the Trim tabs.
There is a delay before the audio returns. doesn't happen every time about 50% of the time.
This is a New Radio with / C-bus. I have been using the Radio for 6 Months and just started.
I installed the radio using the original pre-amp for two speakers plus the Radio has the other 4 speakers.
Very Strange :wow:

Re: Audio from Radio / CD Cuts out when move Trim
The radio goes out probably because of voltage drop when you engage something that requires high current such as your trim motor or maybe when your fresh water pump turns on. Some electronics are more sensitive to voltage drop than others but I would bet your batteries are probably worn out. On my boats I have had in the past this symptom was the first sign of reduced battery capacity or the batteries were getting old.

Hi, I just had some major work done a month back, ( Cracked Head / full Valve Job)
I thought you run off the alternator will under way? Maybe the alternator belt is loose? or a loose wire. The Starter seams fine / Cranks OK. Hmmm.

Re: Audio from Radio / CD Cuts out when move Trim
Hi, More testing.
The Radio is actually turning on & off fully with the Engine on or off.
The radio cut out once when I was turning the 12volt cabin lights on& off
So.... I pulled the radio out and re-Spliced the Hot and neutral wire. I ran a second ground to the back of the unit, only temp use.
I put a volt meter on the hot line and voltage reading where from 13.8 to 14.1 Volts. The unit does not cut out every time and after 10 times it will stop cutting out.
Maybe I should try doing somthing with the neutral?

Hi, I fugured We were not the only ones with the same problem so after a few Googles Searches I found this post reply from someone who put a new aftermarket Radio into a Nisson
Dave,
Nissan uses a floating ground and that is the problem. I it were me I would wire the power, switched ignition and ground to the fuse block and just wire the speakers to the unit and be done with it. Otherwise, I would get a factory style connector and wire it that way. In either case you are getting rid of the problems with the factory wiring. There is nothing wrong with your aftermarket radio.

...and my refrigerator (only runs on 12v DC, not on A/C)
......

The A/C side of the refrigerator is a normal 120V plug like you have in your home.

This plug goes into an outlet that is mounted behind the refrigerator.

I think if you take everything out of the cabinet to the left of the regenerator and bend down and look inside the cabinet and over the top of the back of the cabinet you can just barely see this outlet.

Start with the basics.

#1) Did the plug going to the refrigerator come out?
#2) Does the outlet have power? Plug something else in to test it.

Please follow up and let us know what you find.
