Steering rack/cable replacement with tilt hub

Can anyone share what current part numbers are needed for doing a replacement of the power assisted steering rack and cable system for my I/O? I can't seem to find whether I can use Teleflex or HPS brands and if there is a cross conversion from the original part numbers to new ones that are availabel for sale in today's world.

I also want to replace the steering wheel, tilt hub and back mount as well due to corrosion, shakiness and restricted steering performance. I have found some steering wheels that will work but the other stuff I'm not sure of.

So far the original part numbers I have in my manual for my 1999 Sea Ray 210 Sundeck with Mercruiser 5.0L EFI and Alpha 1 Gen 2 outdrive are:

# 1144062 -Steering Wheel
# 662510 -Steering, Performance Tilt Mechanism
# 1092246 -Steering, Tilt Helm Back-MNT
# 1091842 -Steering, Back MNT Rack/Cable 15.0' Assy

Thanks much for the suggestion but the description for SS15715 says it is a rotary type.

The product description also says -

• Suitable for most single-station boats with a single non-power-assisted outboard sterndrive engines up to V-6 and minimal engine flutter or steering instability.

My boat is a V8 I/O with power steering and a rack type steering system.

Is a rotary type better to have than a rack type steering system? Are there any conversion issues that I will run into?

I had the same trouble finding the part number for my 250 SLX. I finally called the dealer and they were able to tell me.

Yeah, I may have to try that too but the one dealer here usually wants to charge double for the parts and their labor and are not that helpful if you're not buying from them. If I could just get the part numbers I could see if I could purchase them online from Amazon or any boat supplier who has them in stock and install it myself. I don't know what components fit with which series and want to try and get the complete system that includes the tilt hub, back mount and rack system with 15' cable. My online searches have come up with HPS, Safe-T QC, NFB, TFExtreme and a host of other systems which I'm not sure of which one is a direct replacement without modifications.

Yes, I do understand that! The Sea Ray guy that I spoke with was very friendly and even had some installation advice. And I didn't know who I'd be buying from when I spoke with him because I had no idea what the part number (and price) was. Turns out I found it on Amazon Prime for $50 less, so I will definitely go that route.

Since I was searching for the same part and could find no information on it, I thought it was important to complete this thread and indicate that Sea Ray part number 1091842 corresponds to Teleflex SSC13415. Even a call to my local dealer couldn't raise this part number - it was only once I pulled the unit from my 1999 Sun Deck 210 that I was able to figure out what to order. Hope this helps someone out!

Somefun, Is there any way you could share the part # you found? I am also trying to hunt down the part # for a 2011 250 SLX steering cable.
