OK, Not to repeat myself but I have a 1973 SRV 240 that I got with no engine and drive. I have aquired the engine and drive. They are rebuilt units however they have a different steering setup. On the 72 Sea Ray the steering was the "Outboard Style" push pull steering. The stringer has a twin cable thru the intermediate housing and a gear drive. The one I have this setup is removed and can be added. I have 2 junk drives to scab parts from but have no parts for the intermediate housing where the cable attaches to it.
I'll pist pics on what I have as soon as I get into my shop.
Thanks in advance.

is your helm set up for the twin cable system . i belive omc calls it the true-course steering meaning the faster you go the stiffer the the steering and when you slow down it gets loose . it will hold a course verry well but can be difficult to steer at times . if you have to change the housing i would suggest you get one from a boat the has power steering . look around for an older tiarra . but the chance of finding a used one that is not rotten where the exhaust hooks up is slim. i changed on last year on a customers tiara he bought his own part. if you want i will call him and see where he got his and how much. one other thing i know about these steering set up's is that when not used for weeks on end they tend to freeze up because moisture gets into the bushing on the shaft that goes through the housing that you need . to get to the shaft you have to take the out drive off. not a bad job but not fun. if you spray the steering drum with wd or somthing when you use the boat it will help. have fun with your rebuild....

My boat is setup with the two cable system I have posted a link of the project.http://clubsearay.com/forum/showpost.php?p=171834&postcount=1

I have a rebuilt engne and drive that I just got. The housing has the hole for the steering shaft but there is a rubber stopper in it and the housing has the bosses for the shaft to ride in. I'll post pics when i get the engine home.
The drive needs to be removed since she is out of the boat now. I have pics in the above linked thread.
Thanks for the help. Let me know what they say about the housing.
