Everything is up and running but on our fresh water cooled 89 340 DA now I'm getting steam that appears to coming from the riser/manifold connection point. Has the sweet, antifreeze smell, Have only run the engines in the dock for a total of maybe 20 mins. this year. Don't remember noticing this during the short time we owned the boat last season. It appears someone before we owned it has had these apart and applied some sort of sealant at the connection point. Boat was freshwater when I bought it but has some salt water history.
Do I crack these apart now and check riser condition or wait and see how it shakes out after some use? I'll keep an eye on coolant levels.
Thanks again for any help.

We have same type and age engines. If you have antifreeze coming out of joint it is also probably leaking into engine. I just replaced mine. There are four bolts that hold the riser on. Before you take the riser off drain the anti freeze out of the system by removing the large hose on the front of the engine at the water pump. If you do not you will fill the engine manifold with anti freeze
