Here's a video I took last week of an area of the St. Clair River called the St. Clair Middle Ground. It is basically a submerged island right next to the shipping channel. It has a very steep drop off on either side of the area, so it is unique to stand in such shallow water while in the middle of a major river, watching lake freighters pass by within such close proximity.

Cool video Jim, we anchored there last year but found the current a little strong for our liking, I was taking pictures the other night at Bridgeview and did a three shot pano to stitch the photo panning from left to right, when I got home and loaded the pics on my computer I noticed that from picture one to picture two the boats dropped almost a foot from the freighter under the bridge down the river. Just goes to show how nice it is to have floating docks.

Cool video. That's why NOAA makes charts. IF we didn't have charts we'd have lots more boats grounding.

That's interesting....the displacement from those ships is pretty amazing...
