Stair support cracks

I have a 2005 360DA and noticed that the aluminum support has developed cracks along the welds where the smaller support arms (that the wood treads bolt onto) connect to the main support pole. Has anyone else experienced this and if so, how did you fix? I am guessing that it can be rewelded but am concerned with ability to remove that support.

Is your aluminum painted? Are you seeing the "cracks" in the paint between the weld and the Al tubing? Do you happen to have a picture?
