Stained Seats - Total Disappointment

I would skip the Magic Eraser, it is the last resort in my books! And NEVER use it on canvas, I had to replace some canvas because of it..

Frank described it best. Listen to him. The Magic erasers are little soft sandpaper sponges. They'll sand right through your vinyl and as he also said that is will strip the plastisizers which will prematurely age your seats.

Any abrasive is to be avoided on vinyl! It'll likely get your stain out but once you break that "glaze" it's gonna get real ugly.

I couldn't agree more. When I bought my boat last year, I found 2 boxes of those things under the helm seats. I can clearly see small scratches all over the U-shape seating in the back. The seats have lost their softness also, the vinyl feels kid of hard. They apparently never used them on the forward seats though, they are like new without the scratches and as soft as the unused filler cushion under the bed. I also noticed mold/mildew last weekend forming in the scratches :smt013.

Sunlight has removed the carpet backing stains and plastic bag stains for me perfectly fine. No more magic erasers for me.

Ok guys I hear your message. I knew that Magic Erasers were slightly abrasive. However, if used proprerly with lots of water and not much pressure, it will work. The key is after cleaning applying a very good vinyl protectant and conditioner as I did. McGuiars. If everything falls apart in a few months, I'll eat my hat. Count on it, I appreciate all the comments.
