If you own a 2005 or newer 260DA you probably have noticed the removable filler cushion that slips in between the two rear cockpit seats can be a bit unstable. That's because the left side portion of the cushion only rests on a small part of the seat base. And if you happen to put too much pressure on that spot of the cushion it has a tendency to want to drop down. Here is a simple fix ..........one that factory ought to make standard. :smt021

On the bottom of the cushion, the factory mounted a piece of starboard designed to position the filler cushion in the indentations in the seat base. Note that this piece of starboard does not touch the bottom of the indentations at all on the left side. If you look at the cushion from the front, you will see that the right side of the cushion is fully supported by the fiberglass seat base and locked in place by the piece of starboard which rests in the indentation of the seat base. But if you look at the left side of the cushion, you will see that only a portion of the cushion bottom rests on the seat base because it is curved. And that's what creates the instability issues. So if someone happens to press on that area where the cushion is unsupported, the cushion goes flying. It is an annoyance for sure but if could also be a safety issue especially with young ones who move around a lot. So the real issue is how do you stabilize that side of the cushion? Well the fix is real easy. Get your self a piece of starboard or 1/2 inch plywood (that's what I used) and attach it to the existing support. Just be sure you only have it stick out on the one side.........that's where the support is needed. That way the cushion will still drop in the right side indentation just fine. Here are a couple of pictures so you can see what I did.

Here is the additional board attached to the existing board.

And here is what it looks like from underneath when it is in place.........note that it now has the support it needs to stay in place since that new board contacts the seat base.

This modification does not in any way change the height of the cushion. It fits flush with the other seats exactly as it did before the modification.
