So happy with this boat.

Twin 5.0
Looking for good destination and anchoring spot.

St. Croix - you should consider Christiansted Harbor. There are a couple of marinas there as well as mooring balls. Its also right in the middle of where the action is. There is also the St. Croix Yacht Club and Tamarind Reef Marina both of which are really nice, but you will need transportation to get into town. You also MUST get our to Buck Island. You can anchor your boat within about 50' of the shore line and be in about 6 to 8 feet of water. Its a wonderful place to spend an afternoon.

Sorry can't help you with Mississippi.

LOL... I assume he means the St. Croix River in Minnesota....not the USVI.

Thanks for the suggestions. Funny the confusion, i was assuming st criox and the mis would be enough or should be enough. I guess mostly trying to occupy my time till this spring. Btw, where is Christiansted harbor? Was looking at sunnyside?

Christiansted harbor isn't on our st. croix. If you are still considering marinas I would suggest checking out bayport. Last year was our first year there and we loved it.

Ill run through our list of places we stop on the river. This isn't every stopping spot just the ones we know well.

Heading south down the st. croix from Bayport.
Hudson bay - very popular spot to anchor or spend the night.
Afton - Has City docks you can tie up to. Very small town. We don't stop often
The kinny - Popular beach/anchor spot. Apprx 12 miles south of bayport
Prescott - Fun little town. It is a one night stop if you are looking to overnight. Great spot for shrimp!.
Headed South down the mississippi its a nice 15 mile cruise to Treasure island casino.
Casino has a decent marina and helpful staff. Its a nice spot to overnight and take a weekend trip.
5ish miles south of lock/dam #3 is Redwing.
Redwing is a fun stop. Lots of bar/restaurants and historical sights. Also good hiking trails on the bluff. I suggest staying at a marina that is with in walking distant to town.
Across the river is harbor bar. Fun one night party spot.
Lake City is the longest cruise we did last year. Very nice maina and beautiful cruise.

Just a quick summary. let me know if you have any questions. We spend as much time as we can on the river april through oct.

Zach covered everything pretty thoroughly. We slip at King's Cove in Hastings, so we can go in three different directions from the marina, but other than that his points of interest are the same ones we go to!

Thank you very much and i will look into bay port. The kings marine location is appealing, i should check all my options. So ready to get boating!

Thank you for the responses. Zach or open, how long does it take to walk to the casino from the dock?

My wife will be very pleased! Thanks for that.

Looks like they charge for over-night, i am slightly surprised.

Going off of memory here are charges at marinas we have stayed at

Prescott - 1.50 per foot
Kings Cove - 25 per night
TI-casino- 1 per foot
Ole miss (redwing) - 1.00 per foot
Harbor Bar - 1.00 per foot plus $10
Lake city - 1.50 per foot.

All the marinas have a fee for transit dockage. Just part of the fun.

Yes, it is. They all charge a transient slip fee but you get pretty much full access and connections. We stayed at Sunnyside last summer and their rates were comparable to the fees Zach quoted

Thanks all. Freaking out to do some boating. Last fall my family and i bought then navigated back up the mis to stillwater from Dubuque Iowa. Then the marine pulled it for storage two days after we got back. So total for 6 days, 4 1/2 of which i got to use it. I am like a love sick puppy dog over this thing.

Since this post started with great excitment for summer and we just go thit with another blast of snow lets keep dreaming of summer.

What summer cruises/Trips do you have planned on the st croix or mississippi?

So far we have a May Treasure Isand trip and a July LaCrosse Wi trip. Working on adding a Lake City trip but won't be planned until later.

Think summer!
