Has anyone reupholstered their sunpad on their bowrider? I have a 2001 and it is time. The seams are splitting due to walking on, laying on, and getting baked in the sun. I've talked to a local upholstery shop and received two quotes- 1st for a 1 color 1 piece with no seams and new foam for $600 and 2nd for a match of what I currently have for $900. I'm trying to figure out if anyone has done this and if 1 of these options is 'better' than the other.

Thx
Tim

TN, it basically comes down to whatever you prefer: following the pattern on the boat of using two colors so it matches, or going with one color.

If it were me (and I like spending other people's money!) I would want it to look original.

Also, it never hurts to shop out of your backyard to get quotes from other upholsterers. Next week we're taking our boat 235 miles down the Columbia River to have a whole new set of windows made for the fly bridge because the local guy's bid was outrageous. It's cheaper for me to make that trip than to have it done locally, and I've had the distant guy work on three boats for me.

I'm going back and forth... I'm wondering if it is just one color with no seams if it will turn out to be more durable than having all the seams put back in.
Thanks for the response

It can't hurt to look around. I lost one of the back seat cushions one year. It has four colors and is 25 years old. I had a local fabricator build a new cushion for $225. He matched 25 year old colors. The front half of the cushion is white, the back half is a light colored gray.

What they can do with seams now days is fantastic and I bet you will never have another one tear after replacement.

I would go back with the same design. If it was one big piece of material it might stretch here and there and look loose after a while. The seams break this up and add some added relief when you walk or lay on the material.
