Dear Virtual Neighbors:

This weekend I wrapped a line hiding just under the surface around my port shaft. No damage done but it did upset me and got me thinking about spurs. So do any members of this forum have any personal experience and be willing to share?

Thanks,

Marq

Marq, what do you mean about spurs?

Todd, I think he means the sharp line and net cutters one can put on a propeller shaft (inboard engine only, obviously) to prevent what happened. As an I/O guy, I don't have any personal experience with them.

Aha, got it. ....somehow I figured he was unwinding a line and thinking about a bet he made in the Basketball Playoffs......
Seriously I figured he was talking about something I was unfamilar with, I was right. I didn't know what they were or were for

Hello Marq,

Here a nice site with lots of info and animations....

http://www.spursmarine.com/index.html

I don't have them, but a friend of mine uses this system for a couple of years but without a net or rope problem...

So don't know if this works.

Succes Peter
