I have taken out my two batteries for the winter. I was reading a few threads about other issues. Question is will I have any problems in the spring with the ecm. Just curious because people say that resets them. Thanks guys

If your running correctly at takeout ,then no issue pulling the batteries.

99% of the time when someone says "people say", what they said was not true. Take out your batteries for sure, but keep them charged.

Only reset will be any alarms / codes the ECM threw. All engine hours, SN:'s, parameters and PID's are in non volatile memory.

Thanks guys

You’ll be fine. I remove mine every year and have the batts on a maintainer sitting on a bench. The biggest thing you’ll have to worry about is your radio presets;)

We lost our power at home for 1/2 day and now my security light doesn't work. The factory says I can push the buttons in a special pattern to reset or they will send me a new one. HAL seemed quite unhappy at his demise. I think you are just twisting the devil's tail when you flatline a computer. Replace your batteries as needed. I don't even trust the "maintainers" not to sulphate. Lead-acid batteries are too heavy for your back anyway.

As most have said, there will be absolutely zero issues removing the batteries for the Winter. I've done this many times with my own boats and have done it with many customers' boats, as well. While this has been with engines that use different forms of computers, it's also with boats that use the exact same computer as yours.

I think Jim's first sentence nails it on the head.

I don’t know. Do you bring in your car battery wen it gets cold? I used to bring home, put in house. Now I just charge once half way thru winter. They fine.

I'm in New England and batteries will be in warm basement. I don't want them in -10 weather all winter ❄️

All the radios I've had require constant voltage to maintain presets. The auto engine learns over time and acquires presets for optimum operation. Changing an auto battery, you put a temporary power source inputted through a cig lighter jack to maintain that stuff and the correct time. Computers have to boot or pull themselves up by their own bootstraps after a full shutdown relying upon some non-volatile memory in the deepest recesses of their twisted and inimical psyches, an amazing trick. In fact, the only machines you can't screwup with a full shutdown are Cylons and Teslas as they upload their volatile memories to the mothership routinely. The automatic bilge pump will not work without a battery, something you will never need until you do.
