I have always used the Smoove soap and really like it. Tried there wax products this year and was really pleased. Much easier to use than the Meguiar's I have always used. Hoping for good results !!!

haven't done much to ours at all yet. weather has been horrible and had COVID and no energy when we did have decent weather. Hope to maybe start tonight. Should be able to get it all done in a few days. Need to order new anodes too. Other than that and loading everything back onto it not much to do hopefully.

I'm still at it. I got PO'd after last years experience hiring a 'pro'...it got me fired up, screw it, I'll just do it myself and a better job too. Well, nothing wrong with a little attitude but sometimes it can bite you in the ass, this job is wearing me out, at the end of each day I'm hobbling around like an old bull legged cowboy.

The blue hull is looking great, the best since I got the boat. One side just needed a polish and wax but the other I went over with Buff Magic first then polished and waxed. Starting on the white tomorrow, I'm dreading the hard top, it'll need the most work, gonna make some dust up there. I warned the building owner dust is going to fly, they launched a few boats early and moved some trailer boats.

I'm lucky, the storage building owners are great people. They gave me a key about a month ago, I've been living in their building most of the last two weeks. I think I'm saving them some work though because other boaters are finding me so I can unlock the other buildings their boats are in.;)

I've hired a helper. I was taking a break and walked over to see what was going on at another boat. A fellow and his son were changing cutlass brgs. I'd never met the people before, jokingly I told the kid about 20yo when their boat was done he could come over and help me, he said OK. He asked me what the gel coat was supposed to look like when we were done and I showed him the underside of the hardtop...it'll look like this when we're done. I think I got lucky finding him, everything he does is top notch.

My launch date was moved back do to me, now 5/25....soon the old hermit that lives in the boat storage building will be gone.

I'll have to write another post telling how I set off the security system at 2AM and a county cop and state patrol showed up.:D It wasn't my fault, really

I feel your pain.We had ours out for 2 weeks getting bottom paint. Previous owner did not take very good care of the Blue. Thought we would be able to buff it out,WRong!! Ended up wet sanding the blue with 2000, then buff, then 2 coats of wax. Looked like new money when done but man that is hard work. When it comes out next time I will paint it!!

Love the product choices. I have recently started using the Sonax. Love the bottom scale that shows the cutting ability as well as the polish. Also good call with the Collinite products!

I used Sonax this year....very impressed with a 3M cutting pad... low dust is another advantage. But good to moderate oxidization...would want something more aggressive if bad oxidization

you are close to the Sandusky bridge go over the bridge to Bay View there's a restaurant there called Bay Bell. Good place for breakfast very nautical. Also on the same road heading to Sandusky once in Sandusky you will see Tofts Ice Cream on the left. Real good ice cream.

I used a foam pad with a Rotary on about 1600 rpm if I remember correctly. The final wax was applied by hand.

My last boat I had it hauled to my shop. Sanded and painted the boat from top to bottom with a product called Sunfire acrylic urethane made by Sherwin Williams. A big project although once done it lasted for the next 10 years I owned the boat. When getting ready to launch the boat in spring just a wash and hand wax. Best part the dockers around my boat always wanted to know how I kept the boat so clean and shiny. I would tell them just a wash and wax. LOL

Question for Smoove users…..I just had my bottom paint done(been in the list since January). While it’s out of the water, I’m doing the sides- rub rail down. So I’m trying Smoove. I did the hull using the bubblegum. Today I started using the white cloud- and plan to do 2 coats. Why would my fiberglass feel more slick on the area done with bubblegum, than after applying a coat of white cloud? Has anyone else noticed that?

Bubblegum is like a polish…. So it’s going to smooth out…. Cloud is a wax so a sealer. Hard to answer your question without knowing application and removal for both products.
With bubblegum I used a yellow 3M polishing pad on a rotary. It was smooth before micro fiber wipe down after. Cloud used a random orbital with sponge pad for application and a micro fiber after. It came out as smooth.
I have on occasion put a bonnet micro cover over the pad on the random to remove the cloud….. heat humidity can make it difficult to remove the cloud

I applied the bubblegum with a rotary and wool pad. I’m applying whiteclound with a fine foam pad on a random orbit. It has been very hot and humid in Missouri this week. I’m working outside, and trying to stay out of direct sun. I found out the hard way, it’s hard to remove if doing too big of an area(and it wasn’t that big of an area).

It sounds like it’s too humid for the cloud to dry….it should be really easy to remove with a micro fiber

It wasn’t super difficult to remove, but just had to work in smaller sections. I called the company today and they said since the white cloud is a polymer, the fiberglass will not feel as slick after applying as compared to after applying bubblegum. My last wax I used was Meguiars flagship, which feels very slick after application.
