Spring in DC

Hopefully some of you guys can make it out to the chesapeake bay gathering by land or sea... otherwise I may have to find a spot for us all to meet up here in DC somewhere on shore, or pay my way as crew and provide lunch while bumming a ride to a gathering if you all have one on the potomac!

Ryan,

Thanks for the tip on the pillows. We're planning on heading up river some this summer, so if we do, I'll look you up. I may even be swinging into James Creek for fuel (even though I usually try to buy in VA to get the fuel tax refund).

Mike

Home depot has some nice boat-worthy patio furniture sunbrella throw cushions too, but not at as low a price. Saw them this weekend past.

Jim,

I don't think I'll make it that far by boat that early in the season, but I might make it by car. Have to see how things look as we get closer, and if it's a good boating weekend, we may decide to spend it on our boat closer to home.

I'll let you know though, and great job organizing the gathering!

Mike

I have to agree with everyone about PWM. They have been beyond outstanding dealing with my many issues. I know I'm a bit of a pain in the butt with the details but they understand I'm obsessed with my boat. They have gone way out of their way to make things right.

I'm definitely looking forward to warmer boating weather and burning lots of gas. WDCboater you have a beautiful new boat and I can't imagine how excited you must be to take that beauty out in the sun. Waiting the 6 weeks to take delivery of my 205 nearly killed me. Thanks for posting the pictures.

Thanks! We are looking forward to finally bringing the boat up to DC. We got it late last season and just stayed around Occoquan for the remainder of the season. If the weather holds, tomorrow may be the day we bring it up.

Love the 205. Enjoy! That's the boat I first looked at before talking myself into the 240DA.
I hope to get some more pictures up as we get into the season.

And Jim if we can't make to the bay you'll have to come join us Potomac folks sometime.

New 300DA owner here. Only time I've been on my boat was during the sea trial last October so I'm really itching to get out there. The boat is still down on the York River on the hard and even forking over $$ to have the yard paint the bottom. Laundry list of things to do still (grease prop shafts, change oil, check impellers, change filters, the list goes on and on), but I'm hoping to bring her up in a few weeks. Since furlough is pushed a few months, I might even be able to afford to fill her up once! We probably won't be venturing too far the first year, maybe some Tims II people watching and over to Capt Billy's for some eats.
Welcome to the 300DA world, Dave. I have same year and same power train. You'll love it. Hidden gem of the Sundancer lineup.

Made it up to DC today. Potomac and Occoquan bay were flat calm. It made it easy to see debris. For the most part the river was clear of logs until I made it to National Harbor. From there north I needed to dodge debris.

Only a few boats and many fishermen out on the water this morning. Was a great ride!

We're now up at James Creek for the season. If you're in the area say hi.
Ill try to post some pictures later.

Glad you were able to get the boat home and settled.

I picked up my 205 from PWM this morning and towed it to BOE an Kent Island. The Bay was glass and looked free of any debris. I was thinking of doing a run out to Belmont bay this morning but the river Still looked like chocolate milk and I didn't want to get my boat all dirty. Went to Sandy point and the park was almost deserted and the water couldn't have been nicer today. Now old Blaster is sitting at BOE waiting for her electronics install. I can't wait to start mapping all my fishing spots with structure scan.

I'm jealous of you guys that actually moved your boats yesterday. I got the shrinkwrap off and reinstalled a piece of upholstery I had fixed. Hope to be able to splash next weekend in time to head up to see some Cherry Blossoms.

Ryan, I'm glad the trip up was uneventful and the debris wasn't too bad.

Im hoping next weekend will be perfect for a cherry blossom cruise.
It was nice to get in yesterday and settled. We saw a few people at our marina coming to their boats for dock parties, so we weren't alone on the dock. Over at C dock at James creek the slips are almost enirely vacant. Those should fill up in the next few weeks.

24 degrees on my outside thermometer at my house when I woke up this morning. Yup, its spring.

Yeah, this is crazy. I'm still planning on splashing on Saturday if the stars align though. We're going to see if we can make a cherry blossom run to test out the new boat.

This morning looks like it could be winter's last gasp. Forecast models have weather trending warmer starting this weekend and staying warmer. Fingers crossed!Definitely going to be out Saturday, possibly Sunday for the cherry blossoms. Then back to the marina for a little party time.

Are there any blossoms opened up to see?

I'll be out for my first ride of the season on Saturday - just puttering around Mattawoman.

I drove past the tidal basin today and the blossoms were all still tight. Peak bloom won't be till next week from the look of things.

It's been so cold, I hope the blossoms weren't damaged. It's been down in the 20's the past few nights, hope they didn't freeze.

Just flew into DCA yesterday and some of the blossoms are out. Looks like this weekend may be good. We shall see.

How can you have a bad time on the boat? ;)

So jealous...... stuck on the hard at Ft. Washington waiting for the temps to rise enough to get paint on the bottom. My new home is National Harbor. Gangplank will only be open for liveaboards while they rennovate and build The Wharf over the next two years.

National Harbor is a nice facility. We try to stop a few times a season for lunch or dinner.

We have noticed a lot of Gangplank boats coming into James Creek. B dock was filling up last weekend.

It will be interesting to see the SW waterfront when it's all finished.

First time I rode into National Harbor I was glad there was a boat in front of me to follow.
