Hi. I am looking for a good write-up on Spring Commissioning for my recently purchased '06 260 Sundancer. Tips and suggestions are welcome!

Thanks.

There are many spring commissioning write ups on the web. It all depends on what and how it was winterized, and what systems you have on your boat (generator, toilet system, etc.)

Is there a particular area of interest/concern, or just the entire boat in general?

Is your engine raw water cooled or FWC?

I am looking for general advice on a boat like the 260 'Dancer. I had it Winterized by the dealer as part of the sales package. I intend to talk with them as well. My 260's equipped with the Merc 6.2 MPI Bravo 3 (raw water cooled), Kohler Genset (added by the dealer), AC/Heat, standard VacuFlush head. They did an oil change as part of the Winterization.

If its the dealer I am thinking of in Northern VA, I just bought my 290 there. Part of "sales package" of winterization and storages includes the Spring Commissioning as well. Follow up with your salesman to be sure though.

I am planning on hitting the Chantilly boat show this weekend and then the boat to make sure all is ready for splash in a few short weeks!

Are you planning a naming/renaming ceremony? A must have to appease King Neptune and his underwater pantheon!

* Engine and genset - should be able to start right up. Make sure water intake valves are open. Check to make sure water is leaving the genset exhaust port. Check temp gauge for engine.

* Vacuflush - use as normal.

* Water system - did they run pink stuff through tank and/or lines? Depending on how it was winterized, you'll want to flush extensively before using, in particular if there is pink antifreeze in the tank.

* Air C - make sure intake valve is open.

* Batteries - inspect and check for full charge.

* Fuel - did the dealer add a fuel preserver/stabilizer? How full was the tank? You may want to replace the fuel filter for the engine.

* Were the zincs replaced? Does the boat sit in the water during the season? Replace them if worn and specially if the boat sits in the water. Make sure you have the prop zinc as well on the Bravo 3.

* Water heater - make sure drain valve is closed and bypass kit open (not used) if there is one installed.

* Sump pump - test for proper operation. Flow water through shower drain while monitoring the sump pump (under the steps).

* Bilge pumps - test the fwd one by raising the float switch by hand. Test the aft one doing the same, or for this one you can flow water in the bilge until switch starts the pump.

Our dealer priced the Genset in with the overall deal. I am not sure how much we paid for the generator specifically, but it added about $7500 to the advertised price without the generator. It's a 5KW Kohler.
