Okay, I'm running a little late but tomorrow I'm taking the boat over to Cedar Mills Marina and have them go thru it. Right now I'm planning on a bottom job if needed, out drive service including the impellar, look at trim guage issue since it's out of the water anyway. Service fresh water and holding tank systems. Batteries. I'll get the two numbers off the outdrive and verify the engine number I got off the title. I plan on doing the tune up and change the oil myself. Any helpful hints or suggestions? I've put fifty hours on the boat without a single mechanical issue but because of it's good condition when I got it and an inspection to be sure I didn't really expect any trouble either. knock on wood! At any rate now that I have the SELCO Stearndrive manual i believe I could have done most of the work but felt that i should let an expert do the outdrive and evaluate the overall condition since it has been three years since it was last inspected and tuned.

Always good to have a professional look things over. 4 eyes are better than two!

Make sure you have a good fluid pump if you change the oil, otherwise its a PITA.

How old are your thru transom gaskets, boots, etc? Three years? I think they still recommend changing after 5? Don't forget to grease the steering.

Half the fun of having an old SR is upgrading & improving her...OK, like I said in an earlier post, I'm crazy that way...

Assuming you leave her in the water, I'd also take a look at all sacrificial anodes. Also take a look at all the hoses--raw water intake, exhaust, A/C raw water intake, gen set raw water intake, etc. If you see any cracking or hardening of the rubber hoses it is worth the time to replace these hoses. Use equivalent replacment hose and Marine grade stainless steel clamps. This is not a fun job, but it is not very expensive in terms of material cost and will give you peace of mind that you will not be at risk if a dry rotted hose lets go when you are away from the boat. Also consider inspecting the operation of the through hull ball valves while she is out--do they turn freely?
On my boat the macerator/head pump out ball valve tends to stiffen up, because it never gets used.

best regards
