I spoke with Jeff at Smoove as well before I made the switch. Good guy that knows his stuff.

I bought Presta when I was doing a few gelcoat repairs a few boats ago. Sold my barely used Presta kit on Facebook for almost what I had in it. None of the boats I've owned have had any oxidation until my current (thats what I get for buying a 12 year old boat). Before Smoove I really just used Starbrite Premium Polish (still have a bottle).

Smoove is really easy to use and not complicated. Aside from removing sanding marks, my first time using pro cut was last week. I put Bubble Gum on after to remove any remaining swirls and also act as the wax until I get to it (it's on my non dock side).

@Geowh pick a product, buy it and go.

@Shaps I agree 100%. Your boat looks damn good!

@Blueone I'm right here, chill! The wife asked if I was going to open this box of Starke or send it back... and there it sits.

    Maybe @Geowh wants it?

I will tell you, using the small rotary with a white wool pad and really working the pro-cut, it diminishes VERY well - I was blown away. Could I have gotten away without doing BG? Quite possibly...but I was running out of time so BG went on (again, it acts as a finish coat as well)...

I'm hoping to be able to skip the pro-cut next year and only use BG top and bottom. We'll see how it all holds up this summer...

On a not so serious note, I used to be that guy who had to have a shiny shiny see myself in it gelcoat. I obsessed about it. If I got a smudge in the gelcoat I had to buff it out quickly. I studied all of the products, buffers, towels, etc.

Now though, with this boat, I care, I just want to use the boat and not obsess about it. I am asking myself "why did I care so much before" To me it's about protecting the gelcoat from weather/sun/etc. now, not is it nice and shiny and I can see myself in it. The boat currently has some "rub marks" on the gelcoat that I have yet to take care of. I see them, think "meh" and move on. In the past I would have had 23 things out working on it.

Not sure what the change is/was, but I like it :)

There will always be someone with a bigger, faster, cleaner, shinier, prettier....boat.

There will be...but for now...on my dock, the shiny one is me! Once its shiny...it is EASY to maintain.

5+ boats and I've never had an issue aside from washing when needed and waxing in the spring. Even on my 33' I hired a company to do a bi-weekly wash and she stayed looking good....with this 37' a different company did the wash and I bet used harsh stuff on it.

Now that its just me doing the wash (and my 9 year old in a few years)...she should stay shiny! Now if the lake would just calm down and the sun would shine. I've been in 8 days and almost half that time there has been 30+ mph winds....

Maybe we will cross paths again in SH? As @Blueone keeps saying...it really is a great product. Unfortunately the shiny thing always catches my eye....

Now who the hell needs to buy some Starke!?

Well I cracked open the box yesterday, nice packaging and really like the bottle tops compared to Smoove's that just unscrew completely.

Tried to think of what I could use the Hybrid Marine Sealant on to test it out (it's very liquidity)... and the kitchen sink won.

Don't tell the Mrs.... but this test spot was still beading up quite nicely after doing dishes twice and hitting that spot with Dawn....

Color me impressed...I may just have to use this to top the area I hit with Bubble Gum before my launch...
