I recently purchased a 1997 400 SB. The ACR spotlight does not rotate port to starboard or starboard to port. It does move up and down. Any ideas on what to check first wold be appreciated.

those lights are difficult to test because they are digital, but...
there are spring loaded contacts on light head and once they corroded, light will loose some functions. it is not easy but they can be cleaned. check for broken gears - let second person operate light while you listen for sound coming from vertical motor (if you hear sound but light doesn't move, it need to be taken completely apart and broken parts replace, and to take apart older light with aluminum housing and steel mounting screws could be very difficult). also common problem - test and replace ends on coaxial cable coming from keypad to control unit. both keypads and controller can go bad and they can be replaced but new units are not compatible with older parts and both keypad and controller need to be replaced at the same time. if you find that light is defective you could contact http://www.acrelectronics.com/ and I think they can rebuild this light for you. new light goes for around 1k (made in japan cost money http://www.anchorexpress.com/ACR-RCL-100-Searchlight-1930-3-p/1930.3.htm)
