Splash 2019

I spent yesterday under the boat....Bottom paint all done. Now I just have to wait for my detailer to get it all wheeled out.
We did get to go on our first ride of the season though. Moved my buddy's Excalibur from Sassy's to MacRay.

Doesn't bother me. 3rd time it's happened since I launched this year. Past Thursday's was the worst. I'd rather be on/at the boat on a crappy day as opposed to work/away from the boat on a beautiful day. But hey, that's just me!

Maybe you should move over 2 marinas... the weather here has been fine. It may have flooded a few times already, but that's the norm for the past couple of years. It'll happen at least a half of a dozen more times before November 1st! At least it's not snowing and freezing temperatures!

Where are you?... I looked around on Friday and made it as far as PCYC and didnt care to go thru initiation and wait list hassle.

I don't blame you!

I've been at Midway Marina for the past 5 years, going on 6 this year. I had an opportunity to move to a 50' floater at Catawba Landings this season but turned it down, well because this has been my "home" for so long. I sold my business in Michigan, properties and liquidated my inventory in October of '17 and started living on the boat in April of '18 after my divorce, and rented a condo in Marblehead this past winter. The ex-wife wanted the house and told me to shove the boats up my ass! Lol!

Anyway, I may move to the Catawba Moorings once a 50' floater opens there, I am on the waiting list. I love Midway and have made a lot of friends and memories here, but due to the fluctuations in water levels and the more than often Nor'easters I would really like to move to a floater just for the safety of my boat and company. I don't want to worry about constantly adjusting lines or myself or company being stuck on the boat. I prefer a west side tie to the dock so when we get northeast/east winds the lines are adjusted to avoid listing and it makes it tough to get to the dock, and when the marina floods(like they all seem too nowadays) and the dock is under water, you can forget about getting off of the boat! I was just giving dvx a hard time! Most folks aren't here all of the time such as myself so they miss out on the good weather, which 8 out of 10 times is during the week. Like most people he probably only makes it up on the weekends and so far there has only been a couple of good weekend days since March 27th...

There are a handful of floaters at my marina but there is a waiting list here too, if one of those becomes available I'll jump on it. Midway is probably the best bang for your buck, but there are definitely a lot of nicer marinas out there. I realize that you get what you pay for and if you have to ask, you probably can't afford it!

Anyway, that's my story! Sorry for the thread jack.

Proceed...

I couldn't imagine dealing with a non floating dock with our changing water levels let alone a boat as big as yours. Nice thing about cat.mooring and Herls is there real close to the channel out to the lake.

All these picture make me a lot better because all the early splashers weather is as shitty as mine.
Yeah, but the gin & tonics still taste better on the boat, even when the weather is crappy.......
That and after puttering around getting everything in order in rainy, windy, crappy weather it was nice getting that first hot boat shower.
Have to admit that several times during the polishing process this year I was questioning my decision to go bigger at this stage in my life, but once she was splashed and squared away at the dock all those doubts disappeared.
