Spent 4 hours showing the boat yesterday

Nice ad Greg! Plus it's nice to see you putting your money where your mouth is (so to speak) in terms of providing lots of pictures and even providing your reason for selling:thumbsup:.

I also see that you merchandised to boat well in the pictures. I see so many pictures of boats for sale with dishes in the sink, unmade beds, ratty canvas, tools on the deck, used condoms on the floor, etc. What are these people thinking?

Now, Is someone going to buy your boat because you put out nice little pillows and wine glasses in the pictures? Probably not, but what the hell... why not put your best foot forward?

Nice job!

Good Luck and thanks for taking time to stop by.Sorry we had to leave so fast it was getting dark and want to test out the new Garmin toys.Let me tell you they were Sweeeet.

Dave, it was great meeting you Saturday. We spoke to Wes the dockmaster and he will hold a slip for us, B33 I think. Not sure if Mrs R will be coming down or another boat...we will see soon, but it's our plan to relocate.

"used condoms on the floor"

Yeah, we made sure to pick all of those up before we took the photos! ;-)

" but what will you be getting next?"

Thinking about a 410DA, 400DA or a 400DB.

Greg - Well laid out and nice add. Plus the vast knowledge is a must when selling a boat.

If you are looking into a 400DB I have a 2001 with TnT lift and fresh water kept:) Low hours with a 9.6kw gen set.

Thanks, diesels only for us on the next boat.

What, no wine at the helm? JK. Nice photos, nice ad, nice boat!

I hear ya! I do not do enough boating to justify the difference in cost (when I purchased her). With coaching, 3 kids a wife, full social schedule and a lake house it leaves us to put out to our favorite eating joint on the water or to drop anchor in a cove and play on the pwc a few times a month.

Good luck and if you make it up the Potomac, give us a holler.

Will do, father-in-law keeps his 420AC at James Creek. We visit often so we will have to look you up. Though, with your schedule, I doubt you will be able to fit us in!

At least you do not have 2 dogs ;-)

I was being kind in the use of space. Yep, we have 2 dogs - both are Golden Retrivers and love the water. Just becomes an issue when they want to mark their territory on the beach and rub all over a dead fish. That is when I say to the wife, hey, these are your dogs, please take care of them. Otherwise, i use them as a pillow when laying on the floor to watch a movie with the kids.

He sent me a thank you email, stated he is ready to buy and wants to work things out with us. I replied with a "typically what's next in boat buying" email, including surveyor names/#s and asked him to contact me when he is ready to make an offer.

Good luck (seriously!) but I wouldn't get too excited yet. When someone says they want to "work things out" it doesn't ring serious buyer to me, at least not one who doesn't have "lowball" in mind.

A serious buyer- that knows what they want- has no reason to hesitate, especially after spending four hours looking at yours after looking at another of the same model twice. When I found what I wanted, I made a reasonable offer. It was accepted, I put down the 10% deposit. All this does, essentially, is "hold" the boat as the "survey and seatrial" contingency leaves a buyer an out for any reason.

If the guy said he liked what he saw, give him a couple of days and call him. Ask him if he's ready to make you an offer. If not, why?

Agreed, exactly what I told my wife when I read his email. I get the feeling he is waiting for me to volunteer something and/or he has some more discovery on his side to do.

This will be his first boat, he just moved to the area, he is taking a boating class....lots going on so I hope I, and you, are wrong. Perhaps he is just taking his time to make sure it's right. I asked him enough questions to know he is a serious buyer, not a tire kicker.

I beg to differ that! ;-)

I sold the boat, he states he wants to buy, the unknown to me is can he and will he. I spent as much time with him as I did to educate him and make him feel comfortable about buying a boat from us. Moving forward, he gets little to no time unless we get an offer.

I agree with tobnpr, if after a couple of days I do not hear from him I will contact him to see how serious he is/what's his time frame to buy. My guess is he has 2 boats to think about that he likes. He has already sea trialed the 340, looked at ours on the way home from that. As he put it he found ours after already getting interested in the 340.

God gave you one mouth and two ears - a good salesman remembers to use this to listen twice as much as he talks.
