I showed the boat yesterday from 4:30 PM - 8:30 PM, in the slip. The buyer was new to boating so I spent a lot of time educating him and walking him thru the systems. Most of my knowledge came/comes from here, so thanks! And as the Mrs said later, I like to talk....

He is also looking at a 340DA that he has been on 2 times now.

He sent me an email this morning stating he wants to buy her as she shows well. We are hoping for an offer this week!

Did you go though a broker, or are you listing the boat yourself?

He sent me a thank you email, stated he is ready to buy and wants to work things out with us. I replied with a "typically what's next in boat buying" email, including surveyor names/#s and asked him to contact me when he is ready to make an offer.

Best of luck! Sorry if you had posted this somewhere else, but what will you be getting next?

Congrats! It must feel great to potentially have a sale before you have the next boat picked out. Then, when that day comes, it will be quite rewarding.

Greg:

That's good to hear....Best of luck on both ends.

Good luck. Any tips on how to actually 'show' a boat? Do you go through operational items or just stick to features/accessories? I can't imagine a showing taking an entire day. For a potential buyer to spend that much time with the boat is probably a very good sign..

Well, the way I look at showing our boat is...there are a lot of boats out there. If I can make the buyer feel comfortable that ours is the right/best one in a pool of many I will spend the time, and I did.

Honestly, I lost track of time. I went over every system, how it works, to dos/don'ts, service history, etc...

He is new to the area so we spent a lot of time talking about the waterways too.

We took quite a bit of stuff off of the boat too. We loaded the Mrs's Vovlo XC70 to the sides and ceiling. I wanted the buyer to see open drawers, lockers and compartments and see space. As I said to the Mrs while cleaning, if we do not need it today throw it in the car.

I think that is some great advise! I know that when I'm looking at a boat I'm not there to look at other peoples stuff.

Congratulations!!!!!!!! And good luck!!!!!!!!

I went through pretty much the same thing last fall. I spent about 4-5 hrs. total showing, taking them for a ride, and going though everything and every system with them... It turned into a sale 2 days later. We now meet up with the new owners of our old boat on a regular basis. Seems as though we made new friends in the process. Since then, I did ask them why they picked my particular boat vs. others on the market at the same time and they said, it was the condition of the boat and my knowledge (meaning that I could actually explain the things we talked about) that swayed them to pick it over others they had looked at.

Congrats! and hope everything goes well with the competion of the sale.

Sounds like a good news. But, from the seller standpoint did you get a deposit and/or written contract with contingensies?

It's somewhat amazing to me that people are buying boats today given all the bad news about fuel costs and credit problems. Hope the deal goes through for you.
