This past weekend my speedometer quit working. It briefly indicated about half the actual speed and then quit all together. Most likely the inlet on the outboard lower unit is blocked with something. I'll also check the back of the gauge to make sure the tube is still connected. Any other possibilities for why it quit working?

From the inlet on the leading edge of the drive to the gauge, it is, essentially, just one long tube. There is a quick disconnect in the cavity above the anti-vent plate that can sometimes make it easier to figure things out. FYI, if the tube pops off the gauge, water would spill out of the tube. It's one of the most dirtiest of dirt-simple systems there is.

There was mud clogging the hole on the leading edge of the drive. I cleaned it out by hand using a 3/32 drill bit (no drill) and its working fine now.
