simple question I hope. Finally got my boat in the water and everything worked perfectly except I had no sppedometer reading. On my old boats I had a plastic tube that hung off the back but don't see anything like that. What should I be chaecking? thanks.

On Sea Ray's (and probably other mfgrs) the speed is measured on the leading edge of your outdrive. If you slide your hand down the front, you'll find a small half-moon cutout in the leading edge. That's where it measures the speed, as pressure, rather than lack of pressure like pitot's on the transom bottom do. It's a rather ingenious place to put it, and shows in yet another way, how Sea Rays are better engineered. Do a search here, there are discussions on it, and how to clean it out (you can use a small wire (I'd recommend staying away from drill bits). A number of us have had this same issue.

Here's a bunch of topics on it.

I personally hate that damn little hole. It ALWAYS gets clogged up to the point I leave a heavy duty thick paperclip and a drill bit on the boat to clean it out. It used to suck during wakeboarding, the speedo wouldnt work so was more difficult for the driver to keep speed.

We learned now to go by the rpm's and by using the mirror so when the speedo stops working I can ignore it until I get home to clean it out.
