Speedometer quit working

Hello: I have a 1999 SR 210 Signature. My speedometer quit working since my last trip, I could not find a pick up in the transom area, any ideas how to trouble shoot?

The sensor hole is located in the leading edge of the outdrive I believe.

You can clean out the hole (a) carefully with a 1/8 inch drill bit by hand twisting the bit
