twin cat 3116 turbo diesel on shaft
Hello, I've just joined today and I was hoping someone could help me as I've sold my boat some months ago and have fallen for a 370 suncruiser with twin cat 3118 turbo diesel engines on shaft drives, she is 1996 and in good condition . My question is .... Is she origionally diesel or petrol ? Are the twin cats turbo diesel are they good enough for her ??? Please help !

The Caterpillar 3116 engines were an option on the 370 Sundancer in 1997. That boat with Cat diesels will handle like a sports car on the water. I've run one a friend had many times.....expect a cruise speed in the 30kt area and fuel economy of about 22 GPH. They are great boats.........and I hope it is a Sundancer with Cats

Hi Frank , thanks very much for your help, she is a sundancer370 with cats, I'm used to petrol so needed some advise about deisel engines, although one engine is new (5 hours) the other has 500 hours ,they sounded pretty loud at the helm compared to the petrol so wondered if this was normal ? I'd also appreciate any advise you might have on things to check or look out for before I buy...thanks a million...

Paul, Welcome aboard CSR. As you may know Frank is one of the most knowledgeable guys on the board (and most helpful). Best of luck with the purchase.
