I have a 2006, 340 with 8.1 Horizon engines. While at idle speed, the port engine just quit. It wasn’t overheated or poor oil pressure, it just quit running like it ran out of fuel. Engine would turn over just wouldn’t start even making sure fuel tanks were full. Limped it back home and put it on shore power. Engine still wouldn’t start so I took all the batteries out and replaced them (I had them bench tested and they were all pretty bad). Connecting the port side batteries as usual everything‘s fine. Went to connect the starboard side batteries and got hellacious spark. I watched a 90amp fuse on your starter solenoid. Go up in smoke. Cables to the battery are all good. Can’t figure this one out help me please.

Something is shorting to ground. Wire must have come off somewhere

RU sure you didn't connect the cables to the wrong terminals?

Check cables at starter and switches/ breakers make sure all is good. Alt could have fried itself somehow

Noticed last time out the starboard volt reading was very low. New one on the way. Thank you!

Alternator? Did you have it checked

Hopefully you'll be good
