Spark plugs for Merc 8.1 Horizon

Interesting...when I google this spark plug number, all I get are marine sites and $18 plugs. If you go into Autozone's site and search the part number, nothing comes up. But if you pretend you're looking for a plug for a 2002 GMC 3500 pickup, you can arrive at this plug, plus about 15 others, ranging in price from $1.99 to $12.99. This one is listed as "Special Order" if you want store pickup, and it is $6.50.
 
I get ignition parts from Rock Auto - click on the Marine tab. Their prices can be amazing sometimes.
 
I get a lot of stuff there also and checked. They don't sell the AC, but have 2 NGK equivalents for $6.13 and $9.86, in case anyone's interested.

I did the same truck engine routine at Summit racing's web site last summer, got them at a decent price.

I went with the ac's from Advance Auto. $6.49 per plug, plus a $1.50 off per plug with mail in rebate.
Anyone know the correct torque for installation?
I can't seem to find the recommendation.
 
Has anyone replaced the plugs on your own?
Is it a pain in the butt to reach all of the plugs?
Although, everything seems to be a pain in the butt to reach...

Not when you only have to do eight! Seriously, invest in a couple long extensions and u joint jointed plug socket, as well as a u joint socket. Sometimes getting back works out better. I'd also suggest a palm sized ratchet for installing the new plugs, lower leverage will reduce the risk of cross threading a hard to reach or see location.

The amount of cuss words needed to change 16 spark plugs is inversely proportionate to the beam of the boat.
