I am taking the July 9th Bahama Fling that leaves from the Bahia Mar Marina in Fort Lauderdale. My question is, where can I launch my Sea Ray 290, and then park my truck and trailer?

The marina recommended a ramp on at the 15th Street Marina, but there is no overnight parking. The Marina wants to charge me $37/night to store my truck and trailer during my trip to Bimini.:wow:

Is there a good ramp with public parking not too far from the Marina (within 30 miles)? Any and all suggestions appreciated. Thanks!:smt001:smt001:smt001

Try the 14th Street ramp in Pompano Beach. It's at 14th St. and the ICW accross the canal From Merritt Boats. I think they have some kind of extended stay deal. Call the City of Pompano Beach for details.

If the Pompano deal works out and you are determined to go on down to Bahia Mar for departure, the absolute fastest way is to go north on the ICW about 2 miles to Hillsborogh Inlet and go outside. Then go south to Port Everglades and turn north. Bahia Mar is about 2~3 miles north of the port on the ICW.

Don't go down the ICW from Pompano to Ft. Lauderdale. All of Broward Co. has this stupid 15" maximum wake rule. I got stopped between Commercial and Sunrise a couple of months ago in my 390 by the 'Lauderdale water cops. I don't think your 290 can plane without throwing more than a 15" wake. Besides , that section of the ICW is full of No Wake Zones...go outside, you can do the whole trip in 45min~1Hr.

One other place you might try is Harbour Towne Marina http://www.harbourtownemarina.net/ on the Dania Cut off canal just south of 'Lauderdale Airport. That would put you just south of the Port and in great shape. I called John Lloyd State Park in Dania but they don't allow overnight parking. If I think of anything else I'll let you know.

Chad, Randy or Ray might chime in on this if they know. We have a lot of CSR guys down here.

Here is a link to all of the ramps in broward http://www.ftlauderdaleboating.com/boat_ramps_lauderdale.htm

The three that are options for you are 15th st(the closest to Bahia Mar),Cooleys landing (metered parking) is just up the New river and about 30 mins from Bahia Mar,and Robert E. Houston Park, 901 NE 3rd Street, Dania which is right behind Harbourtowne Marina (the one Sprink was talking about on Dania cut-off canal) though the water is very shallow..

I would go with the 15th st one and forget about John U. LLoyd as that place is a zoo. I have been in a line 25 trailers to pull a boat out there before.

If you want to talk personally just PM me with your number

Ray,

Thanks, but none of these ramps allow more than metered parking of 48 hours. Are there any decent ramps in the area that allow more than 48 hours? (I need about four days of parking).

I must be "spoiled" with our ramps around Central Florida and the Gulf Coast. It is not hard to find a good ramp around here that you leave you tow vehicle parked for a few days.

My neighbors that trailer thier boats tell me that Lake Park Marina on the ICW in North Palm Beach allows multiple days. It is just north of Peanut Island and the Blue Heron bridge on US-1 on the west side of the ICW.

It would be a stretch to run down to Ft. Lauderdale but it would solve your parking issue.

There are a few "self service" marinas that are just west of I-95 at Griffin Road which would be great if you could cut a deal with one of them. Check your Marina Guide and make a few calls. You may find what you are looking for at one of those.

I'll keep my ear to the ground and let you know what I hear .

Haulover Park in North Miami/Aventura area. It is county owned marina and we do allow overnight parking. You will just have to go in and tell the manager and pay for the days you will be leaving the vehicle and trailer.
