Source for fine grit sandpaper

I had a hard time finding the finer grits in stores. Places like Hobbytown carries them but there isn't a store near me. They're all over ebay of course. This seller gives you an assortment of grits at a good price.

I've never been able to the find the finer grit around here either. Home Depot had 600 grit once, and I bought the entire box.

I've always wanted to try the 800 and 1200 grit to see if can be used instead of Finessit.
There are places you can reach by hand but not with a buffer.

For a local source, go to the local auto parts house that sell automotive paint. They have good assortments, usually from about 60 grit up to 2000 grit, but high prices. If you have a small project, its quick and easy.

Most larger auto parts stores like Pep Boys carry the real fine grit (in all kinds of ranges up to 2000) for wet sanding. Using a 1500 or 2000 grit works real well. A little bit of Fineessit afterwards, or any other polishing compound, is all it takes to bring that shine back.:grin:

Another source for the fine grit sanding paper would be an automotive paint supply store if you have one near you.

Automotive paint supply stores (supply autobody shops and such). And remember, start with the finest grit paper and work down as you don't wanna remove more material than you have to! If 2000 doesn't take out the mark go down to 1500 and such. Good luck!

I got some wet/dry that velcro's onto my PC in 400 and 600. Makes life easy if you need to go that aggressive.
