I have two boats, 270 and 197, two rodes, both 1/2, one new 200, and one old one cut down to 125 (needs splices), two needs, a backup rode for my Fortress FX-11 for the 270, and a primary rode for the 197. Is 125 enough for the 197? Is it enough for the backup? What would you do with this situation?

Yes, we discussed rode length for a primary anchor in the linked thread. This is about rode length for a backup anchor and a primary anchor on an open bow runabout for smaller lakes in the midwest.

Water depth is the key factor. The other thread answers your current questions. You should be able to put out 7:1 scope if needed. I have as much rode for my second anchor as my main anchor. For your small boat 125' will be good for up to approx 14' of water at 7:1. The ability to add scope is good depending on bottom type not just because of wave size or winds. If you don't have rode to let out then you got to move. Again, it boils down to how deep is the water.

Any suggestions on what to do with my existing rodes and the different boats? Is the 125 plus 6 chain enough for lake Monroe and Brookville etc. for the runabout

MM?
