Sony to Fusion

@Shaps, I had the exact same issue and this is what I did. They also make an adapter plate, pre-made for the remote that makes it a little larger.

Thanks @OllieC , I did buy the adapter plate (seems there is only 1 available that i could find) but it is the same dimensions as the remote. I am considering doing what you did, but want to see how I like the plates first. Figured I could always repair the hole.
Also, it's mid december and not usually warm enough to kick off the epoxy/gelcoat right now. The spectrum gelcoat I bought and used this summer was a perfect match for the small repair i did. Amazing 11 yrs later...

@OllieC
Did you use any fiberglass matt or just fill it all with the West Systems six10?

If you switch to a radio that has zone control can you just nix the two switches in the cabin that control the cabin and cockpit amps?

I am under the impression the head unit (RA770) does have zone controls.
I will have 4 zones. The admiral likes the remotes, doesn't like to have to reach for her phone to change volume...

Music is a different story.

Happy wife happy life...

So the RA770 does have 4 zones. Zones 1 & 2 can be power from the internal amp. But I would advise against that, didn't sound so great when I tried that. I ended up using two 400w amps and fed them with the stereo RCA outs from the head unit.

I used zones 3 & 4 for the cockpit (added a powered sub as well) and 1 & 2 for the salon and master. You can still use the zones independently even though they share an amp. I have been running that way for a few years now without an issue. The only thing I would advise on is make the cockpit zones 1 & 2 or even just zone 1 with a dedicated 4 channel amp. The reason I say this is because the dam app defaults to channel 1 every time you leave the app or even move around in the app and back to volume. The remotes themselves can be assigned to individual zones but the dam app cannot be. I might change the my wiring around because of this. I have spoken with them several times and they just shrug it off. That is the only downside to this system I have found yet. Even still, I absolutely love this setup.

So your decision on remotes is a good one. I have way too many and people think I am crazy. besides the MFD's I four hard wired remotes and four ANT BT ones. Take a look at there 8 channel DSP amp, I am thinking of getting that this winter, great write up on panbo.

I have 14 amplifiers... no joke.

@SKybolt
While you can assign a zone to a given remote, each remote can control any zone, correct?

Sorry, I've been watching this haul out on Minnetonka. I just filled it with six10. Worked great. Holding strong for 2 seasons

Sam at Technografic has this already on file and can make it for you easily perfect match to your finish.

Delrin (Acetal Resin) - cuts, machines, and looks so much better than starboard. This covers the round hole where the original Clarion remote was.

Very nice Tom. You can also polish Delrin after using a router on it. Put a buffer on slow in a vise (wood vise) and use some polish compound and it shines like new.
