I've always been a Lowrance fan...the GPS/Sonar combos have always seemed to work great in the lakes in Georgia and also in the gulf...I am looking for another one (my last one stayed on the boat when I sold it) to put on my SD240. I still have several of the SD cards (Navionics and Lowrance) so I think getting one that accepts these would best. I boat and fish in Georgia, hit the gulf a few times, and I'm planning on a few ICW trips and maybe a run the bimini if I can plan it correctly. SO I saw the HD units by Raymarine - high dollar! I want to know if anyone is using one of these raymarine combos and how well they like or dislike....or should I save my $ and get an analog lowrance unit...?

I had the RayMarine C70 on my previous boat and it worked very well. High definition display and I had the radar overlaying the GPS display as well as depth finder info. Made for a great set up. Is it worth the extra bucks? Not sure but my current boat has Raytheon (older RayMarine) and I plan to upgrade with newer RayMarine or the Northstar due to its integration with my smartcraft system. Hoping RayMarine gets into Smartcraft soon so I can stay with them... though NorthStar is an impressive set up as well.

For lake boating and your occassional Gulf, I'd probably stick with what you like, currently have and save a few bucks. The info you want form either is basically the same...

I have e120's and with the depth finder package and the word JUNK comes to mind. The depth finder goes off line often and cant get a fix. The chart plotter is slow. The overlay options never really match's up .... and the raymarine heading sensor is a joke... IMHO....

Much better equipment out there for the price... ( and they probably work when u need them too )

well i bought a lowrance 525c today...now I just got to figure out where to mount it and how...on my 240 SD. any advice would be greatly appreciated...

Good thing you got Lowrance because Raymarine does not use SD cards like Lowrance. The 525 is a very nice unit.

Here is what I did on my 280SS I used a RAM mount.

I got the Northstar M121 on my searay and I use the lowrance units on my Crestliner.
