A cricket stump is used in the game of cricket. The bowler bowls the ball to the batsman but behind the batsman are three wickets made up of three cricket stumps. The idea is that to get the batsman out you have to bowl the cricket ball down the pitch and get it past the batsman to take out the wickets. On top of the three cricket stumps are little pieces of wood which are balanced there. These are called bales and the ball only has to hit the wickets enough to cause one of the bales to fall to get the batsman out.
