So let's hear about and see your cars.

Thanks. I went to the dealer prepared to take advantage of a lease special they had on basic ATS sedan but they had this left over 2016 performance edition that they really wanted to unload. Yes, those are the factory wheels. The lane keep tech is pretty cool. It will turn the wheel to keep from crossing a line when it knows you're just drifting. Liking the Apple CarPlay too.

I picked up my new daily driver last month. So far I'm loving it. ATS Coupe

snip

I test drove one exactly like that a few months ago. It fit my 6'4" length nicely....width, not so much!!! I ended up with a 2014 Toyota Avalon Hybrid. With an 80 mile round trip commute, 40+mpg made more sense. The darn thing is way to complex for this old brain. The instruction manual for the radio is as thick as the owners manual for the whole car.

I was lured in by the same thing on the basic car but I couldn't get past the stupid looking wheels. They looked like they belong on a standard Malibu. When I saw the car I ended up buying with the 19" wheels and wider rear tires it made all the difference. Mine is silver with a gray interior pictured further back in this thread but I love that black. Have fun!

You guys have some sweet cars. My car collection is a little smaller. Although the monthly cost of it could have me into a couple of nice exotics. Hard to believe that so much money can be spent on a tube chassis not much bigger than a bike frame, a 2 cycle engine and some rubber tires. :smt021 But my kid is exceptional at it so I am all in. 2015 National Champion, 2016 5th in national Points, and 2017 starts in 5 days at Daytona and he was fastest at a pre-daytona warmup we did, so 2017 is looking pretty good!

Before racing I had a Cherokee too like somebody posted earlier. That hobby had to go bye-bye. I loved that plane. You can follow my boy's exploits on facebook. www.WatchBenRace.com will take you to it.

^^^ Next American Formula 1 Driver in the making! Whoohoo!

(Well, hopefully there will be one or 2 others before he's ready.)

Damn! Impressive. I used to kart many years ago. Early 80's, Margay Panther X with KT100. Mostly dirt ovals though, down in the Houston area.

Good luck this season.

F1 or any professional career would be a dream, but certainly not an expectation. We're just having fun with it while he is having fun with it. I know it could change at any moment.

Time to start looking at SCCA Formula Fords or Sports 2000 if he wants to get out of the open wheel stuff :)

Just remember, Its easy to make a small fortune in racing - just start with a large fortune.

An acquaintance of mine restores mainly Cougars he's just finishing a body off restoration of a 69 Eliminator FE 428 Cobra Jet that's taken about 6 months for a client, it's going to Barrett Jackson in January as soon as it's in the catalog I'll post a link to it. If you need any hard to find parts he probably has them for a hefty price.

He's going to start work on my 69 Mustang when he gets back, not a complete restoration starting out with a new wire harness, reconnecting the factory air & heater core.

I made a mistake on the Cougar it's a Mercury Cougar Eliminator Boss 302 going to Barrett Jackson lot 1082

Here's a link to it
