Snow on the East Coast

Looks like we got right around 10 inches, which is a ton for us. Got into work ok (4x4 and grew up in central NY) only to get sent home by our program manager. Some folks have no power, someone my wife works with had a large tree fall on their front porch...it's a real mess here.

Silver lining...watching the boy shovel while I sit inside where it is warm.

I'm bummed, we're only to get 2-8" .... if we're going to get snow, I like to get 1-2'! Otherwise, bring on the sun, and melt what we have left!

I'ts all over here in central-coastal NJ. My whole work day fell apart. I got out early to clear a 150' driveway, came back in, showered, shaved and got all gussied up, only to find that no customers were going to share my 10am - 8pm work day! So I'm home doing diddly-squat.

The Local on the 8's called for 6-10" in coastal Monmouth County. They nailed it. NEVER EVER listen to the TV weather hotties. Doing weather for them is just a promotion from the traffic 'copter...

How far apart are you guys? Although Dom is talking more about drifts than actual depth.

It's not much the distance as it is the location....This was mainly a coastal storm....classic Nor'easter...basically right up the shore line.

Frank's really a landluber....he lives 'inland'...

I just pulled out a sectional chart. I'm all of 35 nautical miles inland.

The official final tally, according to ABC news, is 13.5" in my town.....

If you can't smell the salt air on a damp day, you're too far! I'd like to be closer but for now, 3 stat miles will have to do.

Todd,

Now that's good! If I can change the subject of acronyms to linguistics, here's one of my favorites from Robin Williams.

Warning - do not listen if you are offended by the "F" word or with young, impressionable children within earshot!

Classic Robin Williams. He's funny, but seriously has a screw loose.

So, Have you guys all dug out yet?

We lost power for a day and a half. Good thing we have the house wired for a generator back up. We had everything running, but the wife send she was back in the stone age because the internet was out. But it was a fun time in the snow with our son. This weekend when it gets back to the mid 60's time to get the boat ready and the gear for the up coming rockfish season.

We started our spring clean up this past week end. Got rid of lots of leaves. With day light saving time starting this week end, we will be able to get things under control well before the boat is moved out of the barn. Our snow is all gone in the yard, and even if it does snow again, which it will, the leaves and sticks will be gone. Then it will be time to get the boat going. Right now the signiture pic is reversed---no snow in the yard, but the lake is frozen solid except for our slip.

It's going up to the mid 60's this weekend. I'm definitely working on the boat. The plan is to remove the winter cover and put up the summer canvas, clean the cockpit area, remove all the dessicant from the cabin, and 'THEN'......Start'em up!!!

All that IF the forecast is correct.....

Me to, lots of work planned, starting with waxing.

I think people who live in the north appreciate these seasonal rituals more than the folks who can boat year round. We enjoy getting our boat out in the spring, and then loading up on firewood and putting the boat away in the fall. We've got just enough wood to get us into mid April. Then it's onto the spring and summer fun stuff.

Speaking of “rituals” that is what started the whole snow thing here in the first place. Next year I will have to burn my socks first... then remove the shrink wrap!

You could use your socks to light the last fire in your fireplace!
