Woody: character flaw, I'm too soft on people! I don't smoke but most of my family and friends do if I banned it entirely from the boat they prob would never join me as they smoke hard and can't go hours without a cig or just feel miserable . Swim platform only is best idea for me anyways. Cabin has always been banned now cockpit too. It's a pretty vile habit that kills anyone who does it in the long run!
I get what you are saying woody looking from the outside I would say the same! At least put a stop to the drunken pukers not before they put me through a lot of grief first though.
Australia has a pretty tough stance on smoking. They have all kinds of laws . Things like businesses can not advertise cigs or keep them where people can see them. And they have a lot of scare advertising things like ads on tv where a young mother has to tell her two kids she's dying of lung cancer and every cigarette box has very graphic and disturbing images on them of people with cancer from cigs or going blind etc.
Not sure how effective it all is as it does not seem to deter smokers at all, the ones I know anyways just annoys them.
With Australia having mostly free medical smoking costs the gov millions a year in caring for people with illnesses from it I guess why they have all the campaigns.
Back to smoking on boats that would be awesome to completely ban it on the boat. But how would you Guys handle it in similar situation to mine where your family would never want to come in the case of a smoke ban? Just be tough and say bad luck or find a compromise like swim platform smoking only where they can not do damage.
