I used to smoke but quit in the early 80's when cigarettes got expensive-- around $.40/pack. I also don't let people smoke on my boat. I used to on my first boat, but after getting burns in the seat vinyls from hot ashes being blown on the seats I stopped allowing it.

I thought it would be interesting to see how many CSR members smoke now or did in the past, and if they allow people to smoke on their boat. Since this software only allows one poll question in a thread, add whether or not you allow guests to smoke on your boat.

Parents both smoked when I was growing up, Mom still does. Sister and I never have.

Funny thing, I don't have any friends that do smoke, so no worries on the boat..
Mom's never even considered it, not that I would let her...!

I smoke cigars and allow cigars on my boat in the cockpit. If you arrive without one and want one, i'll give you one. I'll even throw in a mudslide or 3.

Never have.

I once had a guy light up a cigar while we were returning from a day at Put in Bay. While I didn't say a word to ruin his ride, it ruined mine. I guess, I really don't feel comfortable with all the vinyl seating, carpeting, around. The guy never even asked if it was OK to do so.

I'm with Turtle, but would NEVER smoke on your boat without an invitation and even then, depending on conditions. may not feel comfortable. MM

That's why I bought my own boat, I don't have to ask anyone. I guess that makes me a Boatsnob.

Pack of Camels (Humps) a day, pack and a half when we're struggling to meet payroll, and, occasionally an authentic "Romeo & Juliet" (Cuban of course) when watching a sunset like my signature pic with a glass of Crown on the rocks...

cigars and an ice cold drinks on deck..yum

I started smoking cigarettes when I was a teenager in 1995. I smoked on and off (more on than off) until I quit smoking (cold-turkey) in 2005 with my (now) wife the weekend before the Super Bowl that year. It was not easy but not as hard as some say it is. Neither of us have picked up a cigarette since.

I lost my Dad (age 59) in 2009 to cancer, probably largely due to him being a 40 year smoker.

I rarely smoke cigars- maybe 1 or 2 a year, if that. The couple people I know that smoke and have been a guest on my boat have not asked. I did have a friend who I let smoke on the swim platform of my 225WE once but that is it. If asked I would probably not allow it mainly due to other passengers and risk of burning the cockpit of my boat.

Not boating related, but I think we save a couple thousand dollars a year on health insurance by being non-smokers. With that and $5/pack cigarettes I don't see how people afford it these days.

Not into it anymore....did as a kid....Marines, etc...but that was decades ago....a few people at work do, very few, doesn't make any sense :smt021....knowing what we all know now......the big C, come on........no smok-in, on my boat, are you kidding:huh: you need a smoke, BS.....

After watching my father-in-law die from lung cancer this year after a 45 year smoking habit (made it 4 months from finding out) I can not see why anyone would want to smoke...I guess we al have our vices.

Never smoked cigaretts but maybe one cigar a year... maybe? I don't allow people on my boat to smoke... have had people sneak it and have the burn holes to prove it... bass turds!

Never have smoked, and don't allow it anywhere near my boat nor my home. Disgusting habit, utterly disgusting. I'd rather smell a rotten egg fart than cigarette smoke.

As long as it's only a fart and no one is dropping a duece on your boat, right Scott?

No smoking on the boat. I don't have any close friends that smoke but if an acquintance of one makes it on my boat I kibosh the smoking when they ask or pull one out. I just state the flammability of the gas fumes and it's a done deal.

I just noticed yesterday when purchasing coffee at the 7-11 that any name brand cigarettes in my area seem to be $10 a pack!!!! I remember when I was a teenager and cigarettes were $0.65 a pack, same as a gallon of regular gasoline!!

I enjoy my dog rockets, have spares for guests and encourage the uninitiated to take up the indulgence. Cigarettes less so...swim platform or front deck. Nothing in the cabin. Just personal preference and my boat.
